Other than Cards

Other than cards, I keep trying various other art and crafts . I will be posting all my crazy experiments here :)

One most important aspect of Indian culture is its art work. The amazing part is that every state you visit you will find oddles of talent and variety of art and techniques and always so much to learn. Painting and crafting is my first love, but travelling is not far behind :). Although I dont get to travel much due to work commitments, I encash on every oppotunity I get. I love visiting new places and one thing that always keeps me going is the fact that I will get to learn something new.

MADHUBANI PAINTING
So the first one on the list is Madhubani or Mithila paintings as they are known as.
Madhubani is a traditional folk art of the state of Bihar. These could be done on any medium : paper, cloth or canvas (now thats what we call flexibility :) )and are usually on the themes of Indian deities. The techniques here is to outline complete painting with double lines and then fill in with various patterns. Use of bright colors add to the joy.

I experimented with painting of Lord Krishna which I created on Paper.I took the design reference from the site An Indian Summer . They have some great Madhubani designs. It now hangs proudly in my room.

Hope you liked it!! Thanks for visiting!!

I did quite a lot of versions of Madhubani and here is another one. The next one here has been done with very few colors and it gives a very earthy look. I took the pattern from internet itself and modified a bit as per my ideas.

Here is a closer look

It requires a lot of patience to fill in those patterns but the effort is worth it.
Hope you like it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Diwali Wishes

Hello people!! The weekend is so near that it makes me happy already :D Finally I started on my Diwali cards for this year. I know I am terribly late but I am trying to make it up. For my readers who aren't aware of the Diwali festival, Diwali is known as the festival of lights and one of the biggest festivals in India signifying the victory of good over evil. This year we are celebrating Diwali on 5 November. We celebrate by decorating our houses, lighting candle, fireworks, lots of good food, and lots and lots of sweets (I love this part :D)

Okay now enough of blabbering, here is a card a made for the Moxie Fab World Challenge - Perfectly Placed Pleats  and Speedy the Cat's Friend's Challenge - Stitching

Look how the paper pleats make for the cutest candles. Doesn't that stitched sentiment look pretty too?

After I made one and liked it, I went crazy experimenting with colors, size, and various different things :D
Here is another variations I came up with.

A year in review 2016 + Giveaway!

Hello,

As we step into the new year, I wanted to take a moment and reflect upon this past year which has been mostly amazing for me. 2016 was tremendous for me in terms of both professional and personal life. Yes, there were moments and events that I would not never like to experience again but today I just wanted to focus on the good and happy.

So today I am going to highlight my favourite projects and moments throughout this year. I also have a giveaway for you guys as a thank you for always being so supportive and appreciative. You always motivate me to do better and more.

I started year 2016 with this close-to-my-heart watercolor piece. This artwork is special because this was the first of the many! I fell in love with using stamps to build watercolor scenes and kept making them throughout the year.

This photo of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco has so many lovely memories from our big family vacation this year. It was fun converting it into a watercolor piece. Also this …
