A year in review 2016 + Giveaway!

As we step into the new year, I wanted to take a moment and reflect upon this past year which has been mostly amazing for me. 2016 was tremendous for me in terms of both professional and personal life. Yes, there were moments and events that I would not never like to experience again but today I just wanted to focus on the good and happy.

So today I am going to highlight my favourite projects and moments throughout this year. I also have a giveaway for you guys as a thank you for always being so supportive and appreciative. You always motivate me to do better and more.

I started year 2016 with this close-to-my-heart watercolor piece. This artwork is special because this was the first of the many! I fell in love with using stamps to build watercolor scenes and kept making them throughout the year.

This photo of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco has so many lovely memories from our big family vacation this year. It was fun converting it into a watercolor piece. Also this was the first time I worked with Ken Oliver Color Bursts (and almost messed up :D)

When one of my lovely long time client asked for a pregnancy journal in year 2015, I was in a fix. I just didn't know where to start and how. So I asked her for some time to figure out and she agreed. Then I did some extensive research, looking for ideas and inspiration as to what to put into a pregnancy book and this format was the result. The client loved it and so did so many people. I ended up making so so many of these in the the past year and throughout 2016.

Before I left for my big vacation, I got an email from Impression Obsession Company saying that they like my work and asking if I would like to give their products a try. I was so excited to have a company appreciate my work. They also let me pick out a few of their amazing products. A definite high for me this year :)

(Sorry about the low quality photograph)

These cute bookmarks were made using one of my favorite stamp set "Fairy Friends" from Lawn Fawn(also one of my most favorite stamp company). It was a commission and these were gifted to teachers on Teacher's Day.

When I started my professional craft journey, I never thought I would one day design a stamp set. And then it happened!
I designed and released one of my own stamps under Mudra Crafts Stamps and I am so thankful for the opportunity.

To start a mixed media art journal has been on my mind forever and I finally took the plunge this year. This is where I opened up my heart and shared bits of my personal life with you. Being a private person, it was difficult for me share an issue that is very close to my heart. It has more meaning for me than you can imagine.

Although I have been painting all my life, this was the first time that a client trusted me enough to commission two of these canvases. I painted these with acrylics and the end result was so close to the real image that it gave me goose bumps :)

It was one of those things that made me believe in "Dreams do come true". I have been working with Pretty Paper Studio as a design team member for over 2 years now and when they asked me if I would like to teach an online course, I was so excited. The poster was of course hand painted using Altenew Stamps and watercolors.

Again it is one of those projects I couldn't get over. I loved, loved painting this couple's portrait on canvas as a 25th Anniversary gift from their kids. The original photo is 25 years old and wasn't high resolution, so it was really a tough job to bring out the details. This was a perfect project to end the year and a definite highlight for me.

As a thank you for being constant support and motivating me, I have a small giveaway (or two ;)) for you.

I have 2 boxes for 2 of you. Each giveaway box contains the following,

Watercolor Illustration - Peonies in a Vase + Video (Feat. Altenew Stamps)

This is one of the projects I fell in love with even before I started making it. I was mostly in love with the idea and it came about more or less how I had imagined which added to my joy. I also have the video recording showing the process I followed. Scroll down till the end of the post to see the video.

I wanted to play along the Altenew December Challenge  where we could take inspiration from any of the previous challenges of this year.

I chose to be inspired by the November Challenge colors and came up with a little watercolor wall art

The scene is partially stamped and partially hand drawn and I colored the beautiful peonies using no line watercoloring technique.

And then I put the artwork into a frame and I think this would make a lovely gift :)

Here is the video on how I created this from start to finish
