A Road Trip layout!

So is it weird that I get all the urges and ideas to craft only when I am super busy? Or does this happen to you to? I have ton of commissioned work to finish and yet all I could think out was making a layout with this picture I love this evening :)

So between all the chaos on my craft table, I managed to put together another layout for my daughter Aadya's first year album (yes, still on first year album when she will be 2 in June :)) .

I adore that photo of us, mostly because I have a very few pictures with all 3 of us together :)
This picture was taken last year when we took a road trip to Panchgani (a hill station about 3 hours drive from our place), Aadya was 7 months old then and she had a blast there.

See ya soon again :)

A little girl's dress!

So most of you know about my little girl, Aadya :)

I have been itching to sew a little something for my girl. Mostly because I have some fabulous memories of wearing home stitched frocks and pretty dresses made by my mum and aunts and I wanted to recreate those memories for Aadya.

It seemed hard as I have no sewing experience other than a few quilted pouches when I was still in school and I had nobody to ask for help at home(my mum & my mum-in-law don't stay anywhere near my place :( )

But I ventured (after going through endless number of tutorials, trying to find the easiest to get started :)) and here is what came of it :)

There's my happy little girl in her new dress :)

The dress is in no way perfect and experts would probably gasp at the errors I made, but I loved every bit of it..right from cutting the fabric to taking these adorable pictures :)

I have a long way to go and lot to learn when it comes to sewing, but atleast it's a start!

MDF Tissue Box!

Who loves retro?

This tissue box I am sharing today is all retro and vintage-y. In love :)

Here is how it looks

Instructions:

1. Start with a coat of watered gesso or any wood primer and coat the box. The MDF items from Craftslane already come sanded and they now also give you the option of getting them primed too. The primer coat with add to the durability of the project and the MDF will also take the acrylic colors better.

2. Once the primer is dry, paint the whole box, inside out with te acrylic paint of your choice. I used "raw amber" which a deep brown color for my box. The painting is made eaiser with the high quality brushes from craftslane. You can not also find a huge variety of high quality acrylic paints at craftslane too.

3. Cut your choice of pattern paper to size. I am using the beautiful retro themed paper from Kaisercraft Tea Party Collection. The top of the box will be covered from another paper from DCWV.

4. Distress the edges of all the pattern papers with a distress tool or scissors and ink it lightly with Walnut Stain distress ink.

5. Adhere the papers in place using Mod Podge. Follow the over and under rule.

6. Let air dry (not with a heat gun or in the sun). And add a couple for coats of Mod Podge to seal the deal.

7. You can leave it at this step or go ahead and embellish the box further with 3D elements. I wanted the box to have more usability so I left it this way.

And there you have it. A beautiful retro themed box.

I can't wait to invite my friends for coffee and show off with this awesome tissue box :D

Without a doubt, Craftslane has some amazing MDF stuff. Great quality and fabulous designs to choose from plus ones that have utility too. Have you tried them yet?

Album - From our Hearts....

It's no secret that I love making albums and I recently made one on commission which I loved working on :)

The center on the cover has a place to put a picture. Lots of flowers and vintage metallic charms.

I love the colors in this one. The shades of blue and lime really pop out.

This one is going out the the spiritual guru of the client. Albums make for such versatile gifts :)
