Happy Friday! I am so happy today, because not only its Friday today but because I am also leaving for a week long vacation and will be visiting my in-laws and parents :) So I will be away from my precious blog but will try to pop in now and then :)

And today I wanted to leave you with a little holiday tag which I think is super cute :D

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Penny Black(hello friend),  ink: Jenni Bowlin(Brown Sugar); coloring medium: Faber Castell water color pencils

Not many of you might know this, but I love water coloring and that was the first thing that I picked up and was really good at in my drawing classes in school. When I got this Penny Black set, all I wanted to do was water color the images. They are super cute :)
I wanted to make the car look like it was flying and then I wrote the sentiment saying "Express Delivery". I think it goes perfectly here :)

Challenge from a dear friend :)

A few days back, my very dear friend Romina, issued me a challenge and a difficult one at that :D
The story goes like this : She had purchased some MS punches from me and as they were sitting at my place to be picked up, Romina messaged me saying till the time they are with me, I can use them and the rest of the conversation went something like this :

Me: "Thats sweet of you girl, but the stuff belongs to you and I don't wanna use it before you do and anyways I am no good with punches :)"
Romina: "Make a card using the MS Floral Band punch in 3 different ways"
Me: "Is that a challenge?"
Romina: "Yes"

Ohh I so dreaded the moment :D This was a real challenge for me and there were actually 3 challenges in one.

Challenge:
1. Use a punch
2. Use it in 3 different ways
3. Finish the card before the stuff gets picked up (approx. 1 hour)

Can you imagine? I was struggling..and struggling hard :D
Finally I came up with this

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Penny Black(hello friend),  ink: Momento(Tuxedo Black), Blue pigment ink, tools: MS Floral Band Punch; embellishment: American Crafts (Pearl Brads)

After a lot of thinking, I decided to use the punch for:

- creating border
- using individual flowers
- using individual flowers to create bigger flowers

What do you think? I actually quite like it and I had so much fun playing with the MS punch. Thank you Romina for pushing me out of my comfort zone and making me explore something new :)

Smooches :)

I have an ultra cute card to share today. I received the pack of Paper Smooches Stamps (available for purchase with me) and well they are as cute as it can get. I just couldn't get over them :)
They were quickly sold out last night, but I did save a couple to show you how awesome they are and enable you in some way :D

I am playing along the Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge which has a fabulous inspiration photo this time.

And this is what I created,

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Paper Smooches(Chubby Chums),  ink: Momento(Tuxedo Black), Jenni Bowlin(Seed Packet); Accents: googly eyes

I used the super fun Chubby Chums stamp set to reflect the round shape of the tomatoes in the inspiration photo and went crazy paper piecing the cute critters :) I picked up the colors from the inspiration photo as well and went with the fun and cute theme. I took the tiny "xo" stamp from the same set and stamped it repeatedly on thin strip of paper. I had been looking forward to making a shaped card for some time now and I think these cute critters just go along well with the fun shape :)

I am also entering this in the Lawnscaping Challenge : Paper Piecing and CraftyJC Challenge#10-Simplicity.

Prickley Pear October Sketch Challenge!

Hello! It’s October 15th and time for a new sketch challenge at Prickley Pear Blog. We have a lovely sketch for you to play along with and of course there are prizes to be won. I hope you will play along.

Here is my take on the challenge:

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps:Prickley Pear (Evergreen with Star) ink: Jenni Bowlin (Seed Packet); embellishments: Pie Lane(Frosted Crystals, Star Shaped crystals), May Arts
(ribbon), Twine from The Twinery

I have been in a Christmas mood lately (and not in Diwali mood at all :D ) and I love this gorgeous tree stamp. I clear heat embossed  it and worked with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink over the top. Added a bit of barn door distress ink on the star and adorned it with a gorgeous Pie Lane crystal star.Finished it off with a sentiment and some pretty May Arts Ribbon :)

I hope I have inspired you in someway to play along with us at Prickley Pear this month. Please visit the blog to see some more gorgeous inspiration from the rest of the design team!

I am in Christmas mood!

** There is still time to enter my BIG giveaway. See the side bar for details.

Even though Diwali is just around the corner, I don't know why but I am in Christmas mood. Anything I create is Christmas-y these days (Its probably because of all the new Christmas craft goodies I got recently :D )

Well, since I am anyways creating Christmas cards, I thought I'd enter a few challenges. The first is the  Hero Arts October Challenge. I loved this month's sketches and wanted to give them a try. I also used the Polka Door Inspiration picture for the lovely colors and holiday theme.

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Hero Arts(CL355, CG211, CG245, CG125); ink: Distress Inks(Walnut Stain, Barn Door, Shabby Shutters), Versamark embossing ink;embellishments: Kaisercrafts(Rhinestones - Red), Twine from The Twinery

I have used 3 different Hero Arts background Stamps- clear embossed and covered with 3 different distress inks to create my own pattern paper. I then used those pattern papers to create my tiny dimensional ornaments. For the the background, I clear embossed the Christmas sentiment on Kraft card stock, I love that effect :)  And all that was left to do, was sprinkling gorgeous red rhinestones and finishing with it some twine.
I also wanted to participate in Young Crafters Unite Challenge of creating matching envelopes. I created this one with vellum, love the soft look. embellished the flap with the same circles used to make the ornaments on the card, gemstone and some twine.

Come back tomorrow for my first PPRS Challenge Inspiration Post!

Hope you like it! Thanks for visiting!

Halloween Greetings + A Haul Video + Q&A

Alright, so as the post title suggests..there is a lot of stuff going on in this one post (I was trying to make up for being absent for the last 5 days :D)
First up is a Halloween card, a simple one using my new Prickley Pear Stamps. I can tell you they are awesome. Don't believe me? Watch the video :)

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Prickley Pear Design Stamps(Halloween Greeting),  ink: Momento(Tuxedo Black), Distress Inks(Spice Marmalade);

A super simple Halloween card for the CraftyJC Challenge#10 - Simplicity, Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge#71 - Halloween and Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Halloween.

And here is video with all the Prickley Pear Products that I received. Have fun watching!

P.S. I tried  voice over for this video and well as you might guess(I can't do anything perfectly the first time :D ), it went a little haywire while editing :D

You can watch it on YouTube HERE

Q&A

Q1 What is the size of this card? Did u use an A4 on THIS card?                                   Jaya Christina
A1 Most of my cards are of standard size i.e 4.25 X 5.5 unless otherwise stated and the card in question is also of the same size..

Q2 Pleases mention the embossing folder u used  on THIS card                                         Varshitha
A2 It may come as a surprise but I do not own any embossing folders because I do not own a cuttlebu/big shot just yet. The embossed sheet that I used was a RAK.

Q3 Should I get re-inkers for the distress inks? And suggest some good inks both for stamping and distressing. Can I use pigment ink for distressing (stamp pad one not queues)?               E.T.
A3 I still have lot of ink on my distress ink pads and haven't had the chance to re-ink them. But I guess it would be good to have some re-inkers at hand, especially since we don't get them easily in our countries :)

As for the inks for stamping, I love Momentos. But I tried Jenni Bowlin inks recently and fell in love with them. They come in some amazing fun colors, are dye-based and even good for light distressing.

I have tried using pigment inks for distressing. You have to work really quickly in cleaning up the embossed area before they dry up. Otherwise the embossed part will also take the ink and won't be as good as it should be. You can use them sometimes on smaller areas but at the end there is nothing like Tim Holtz Distress inks :)

Q4 How did you do the leaf on THIS card?                                                               Snehal
A4 The leaf was stamped with Shabby Shutters Distress Ink and then sprinkled with water. Once it was dry, I hand-cut it and mounted it on the card using 3D tape.

I hope you liked it! Thanks for watching!

Thank you sew much!

Happy Monday! I have tons of things to do today so I am gonna keep this post very short. I wanted to participate in WCMD challenges at Lawn Fawn  and Lawnscaping Challenge blog and so just popping in to share a card I made to send to a very special friend who's been there with me all this while with unconditional love and support. I don't wanna reveal her name and spoil the surprise here :)

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Lawn Fawn( Smitty's ABC, Sew Lovely); ink:Momento(Tuxedo Black);  embellishment: embroidery floss

I wanted to make her(my dear friend) a nice warm quilt reflecting the warmth in our friendship (look who's getting all mushy :D). So I put some strips of Echo Park papers together and did a bit of sewing.
The sentiment is a mix and match of 3 different sets from Lawn Fawn :)
Entering this in Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge#70 - Your Favorite Style and mine is Clean & Simple (duh! as if I need to tell you :) )

I hope you like it! Thanks for visiting!

Sunday Bonanza :)

Happy Sunday! Hope you had a crafty WCMD yesterday! Against the rules (i.e No crafting on weekends because its family time :)), I did make a card yesterday and so I thought I will call it a Sunday Bonanza :D

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: WPlus9(Magical moments); ink: Unity Stamp Co.(French Lilac),pattern paper: My Mind's Eye (Stella & Rose); embellishments: Pie Lane(Rainbow & Lustre Crystals, Pixie Dust Glitter)

I used the sketch from Skipping Stones Design Sketch Challenge#95 and combined it with Mark's Finest Papers Challenge#75 - Use Polka Dots. I have never been much of a glitter person. Not that I don't like glitter but its just that I didn't know how to put it to use without over-powering the other elements. But ever since Pie Lane launched Pixie Dust Glitter, I have been thinking of adding it every card I make :D
Hope you like it! Thanks for visiting!

Thanks!

Happy Card Making Day!! So what are your plans for today?

Today's thanks card is dedicated to all of you who read my blog regularly, never fail to leave a comment and have been ever so supportive with all my little ventures here at this blog. Thank you so much!

So I have a lot of good things to share with you all today.

First up, I made it to the Prickley Pear Stamps Design Team . I am so excited to be on my first ever manufacturing company design team. You all know how I love stamps and they have so many wonderful ones. I just can't wait to get started. I decided to apply for the post when so many of you suggested that I should. Thanks a ton for enabling me! I look forward to a whole year of inking :) And yes the team is being formally introduced today on the PPRS Blog. I would love for you to go see :)

Second up, I was selected to be a Honorable Gnome at Lawnscaping Challenges. Cool...HUH! :D So happy!

And here is today's card
Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Hero Arts(Speckled Ornaments, Live & Laugh),  ink: Jenni Bowlin(Brown Sugar), Distress Inks(Barn Door, Walnut Stain, Shabby Shutters);  embellishment: Pearls (Kaisercraft )

I attempted Piali's Stamp Block Challenge at Yvonne's Blog with my own little twist. Instead of stamping the block directly with distress inks, I misted them with water first and tada...a super cool background :)
And the walnut stain ink bleeding into the shabby shutter ink was a happy accident and I really like it.
Also entering this for Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Anything Goes.

Hope you like it! Thanks for visiting!
