A week in cards!!

Happy Monday peeps!! Today we are hosting the first ever blog hop for Indian Stampers and crafters (Thanks to Jaya !!).  We will be posting a new card every day for a week (28 Feb - 6 March) for all of you to see and enjoy :D

I saw it as the perfect  opportunity to participate in some of my favorite challenges (which I normally miss out, credit goes to my laziness :D ) and have some fun. For the first card, I picked the sketch from Get Sketchy#76, the colors from Simon Says Stamp Challenge# - coffee and cream (coffee color is one of my favorites :) ) and the theme at Unity Stamp Company Challenge#1 - Hearts.

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Ippity (Grunsey Gingham, Totally Happy); ink: Unity Stamp Co. (Raw Sienna); Embellishments: Ribbon from a local store
I first stamped the ginghan background on a very vanilla card stock and hand cut the hearts. The hearts were then distressed. I added a lot of hand - stitching for the final touch.
Since I often use hand-stitching on my cards, I thought I will share a few simple tips and tricks to make it easy for you.

1.  Hand- stitching is for people with patience. If you are a quick crafter, most probably you would not like this technique.

2.  Use a thick paper when you decide to hand-stitch. Thin paper has more chances of tearing up in the process.

3.  Always poke holes first where you want to hand-stitch rather than doing it on the fly.

4.  Apply pressure on the needle and not on the paper while stitching to avoid bending of paper .

5.  You can achieve entirely different  effects with the thickness of the thread you chose to stitch. Thin thread will give the effect of a machine like sophisticated stitch while a thicker thread will add the fun.

6.  Last and the most important, if you are doing a lot of stitching, make sure your head is resting well against the chair or wall otherwise you might end up with a sore neck.

I hope these tips will come in handy the next time you decide to hand-stitch :)

That is all from me now. I will be back later in the evening with another card.

Enjoy the hop!! Thanks for visiting!!

Bring your own sunshine!!

First up is a happy news :) I won the Get Sketchy #74 and I am so delighted.

Today's card is inspired by Sarah's Card for the Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge#44. I loved her card so much that I decided to case it (But mine is no where near her card :) ).

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!, Paper: Echo Park (A walk in the park) ; stamps: Ippity (Quotes a'la HAPPY); ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black);

This is my first attempt at paper piecing (Did you notice my paper-piecing masterpiece?..lol.. - bright and happy sun. I have pieced each and every of those tiny rays :) ). I am also playing the Paper Piecing Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and Lawnscaping Challenge #4 - Paper Piecing. I adore Lawn Fawn images but don't own any yet :(
It fits perfectly in the Laurel Seabrook's challenge at Yvonne's blog. I loved Laurel's tutorial on paper-piecing and would be doing a lot more of it in future. Its fun!!

Hope you like it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Happy Sunday people and I hope its a happy day for you all!!
Today I am sharing something that has been pending for long and i.e. flaunting my Echo Park Papers :D I really wanted to showcase the bright and beautiful papers but had been busy sick for the past week and finally when I got tim yesterday night, I pulled it up. I am playing the Get Sketchy Challenge#75 (only I turned the circles in the sketch to squares...don't know what I was thinking :D) and the colors of OTWC#26

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; Papers: Echo Park;Embellishments: Echo Park Element Stickers , Jenni Bowlin buttons
I used some fun papers and stickers from two Echo park lines - Little Girl and A walk in the park. The chipboard flowers are a gift from Y. which I paper pieced and accented with Jenni Bowlin buttons.
I also decided to enter the Catered Crop Recipe Challenge 6 where I picked the following ingredients -
Patternr – Go Crazy with Patterns!

Hello Friend!!

Happy Friday my dear friends :) Its a lovely day..isn't it?

Today I am here to share another card and that too a pretty one :D I am playing the Simon Says - Create you own embellishments challenge (Its just that the handmade embellishment is a gift from my dear friend Annie :D  )using the colors at Color Create Challenge#64 - Chocolate, Strawberry and Cream.

I am also playing the Stamping with Shimmer Sprays Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. I have had glimmer mists for a long time but never got to use it until I saw the Moxie fab challenge and got inspired.

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Hero Arts (CL401-Speckled Ornaments, ), Skipping Stones (Grunge set); ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black, Lady Bug), Tattered Angel Mist (Peppermint); Embellishments: Stickers from SRM, pearl string, paper flower, lace and crocheted flower from stash

To create the background, I created horizontal panels by masking and spraying glimmer mist. I am using the left over card stock from the Kissing Technique I tried sometime back (Remember this card?)  The gorgeous crochet flower came as a RAK from Annie.

P.S. I have opened a poll for you all (see right side bar) to help me out with the next Echo Park paper order. Please cast your vote as to what you would like to see in stock in the future and would be interested in buying. I request you to vote genuinely and not just for fun.

Don't Worry Be Happy

First thing first, I am so happy that Dana, who was the host for the "Get more from your patterned paper" challenge at Yvonne's blog has picked my card to be the winner. I am so glad :D

Next, I am sharing a card for Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge#43 - Live, Laugh, Love. I thought the image from the Flourishes set Kids Play was a perfect fit. I am using the sketch over at Limelight Papercrafts with a focus on string and the colors of ColorQ #72

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Flourishes (Kids Play); ink: ColorBox Pigment Ink;
String and Ribbon from Stash;

I played a whole new technique called grid technique here. The basic idea is to create a grid by scoring lines and then stamping a image on the raised side. Silhouette images work best for this technique. I also distressed the edges so as to make the grid more prominent.

Hearts and Hugs!

Hey peeps, a very quick post to share a card I made for Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge#42, CraftJC Challenge#6 and PTI color challenge. I am using the following color palette.
This combo is very new to me and I have never used it before. So I took the challenge and here is my creation.

This card has a lot of details and has come out really beautiful but I will not get into the details because I am short of time at the moment. If you have any question, please leave a comment and I would answer :)

Gift of Friendship!!

Just popping in to share a card I made for Dana's get more out of Patterned Paper Challenge at Yvonne's blog. I loved this challenge because I hardly use PP on my cards (not that I don't like PPs, I love them. But I often have no clue how to use them :) ) and didn't want to miss it. I had been hoarding a few beautiful PPs for ages and took one out for this challenge. The paper I am using is from Hobby Ideas and here it is (before I used my scissors on it :D ).

(ain't it gorgeous? notice the tiny fairy in the corner)

And here is the card I made

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!, Hobby Ideas PP ; stamps: Mark's Finest Papers; ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black); Hobby Ideas 3D glitter

I cut out the base from the top left corner, highlighted some of the  flowers with white gel pen and glitters. Then I cut out the flower with fairy(neglected one :D) from the bottom right corner and placed it on the base. I popped up the wings using 3D foam dots and added 3D glitter to the wings.

Using colored gel pens, I highlighted various parts (flower head band, face, flower, etc) to make it pop up. As the last thing, I added a sentiment which goes well (I think so :)) with the image and the theme of the card.

Lets Catch Up..

Happy Monday!! Hope you had a great start to this week :)

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Hero Ars (CL372); ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black), ColorBox Pigment Ink(Frost White)

I actually dusted off my scraps to create this fun friendship card :D The edges of all the square pieces are distressed.

You are Special!!

Today, I am sharing a card for the The Appearance of Cameos Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and its so not my style but I love it and you will love it too once you see it :)

I really didn't have any idea how to start with this challenge until I saw this tutorial for a 3D frame and I had that light bulb moment :D

Here is the card
Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Flourishes (Kids Play), Basic Grey Bitsy Stamp (bug/b2); ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black); Embellishments: Pearls from Itsy Bitsy

The  stamp used above and below the frame is a single stamp which I masked and broke in two to create both the panels (How clever...huh? :D ) I don't know if this picture does justice to this card because this is real pretty in RIL.

And before I forget, Emily at Art from the Heart passed this Stylish Blogger Award to me and I am really happy. Thank you, Emily, from the bottom of my heart!!

Kissing...

oh please don't take me wrong....Kissing is a technique I learned recently :D for the New Hero Arts Challenge for Feburary. I used the sketch over at Wee Memories Scrappy Saturday Challenge#41.

Click on the image to see details
Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Hero Arts (CL401-Speckled Ornaments), Skipping Stones; ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black, Lady Bug); Embellishments: Heart felt piece from Creative Impression, Beads, White Satin Ribbon, pearl pins, crocheted flower from stash

The most interesting part of participating in challenges is that we get to step out of our comfort zone and  learn something new and that is what happened this time. I learned this fascinating technique of kissing the stamps. You can check out the article by Shari Carroll.

It would have been easier if I had one of those large background stamps by HA but since I didn't I had to find a way. I stamped the different stamps from the speckled ornament set to create the background using the kissing technique and then embellished it till I was satisfied (that's a rare possibility :) and I still think I would have done something more or something less). I liked the end result anyhow.
