Butterfly card with a butterfly award :)

We'll talk about the  butterfly award later in the post, let me get down to sharing the butterfly card first.

Today's card is all about using the scraps (I am a miser when it comes to paper and save even the tiniest bits of paper :) ). I am not particularly proud of it and thought I share it anyways. (sorry for the bad pics, it raining here for the past 4 days and the weather is all gloomy and dark, not ideal for taking pictures)

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: smART Works(butterfly), Skipping Stones Designs(Grunge);ink: Momento(Lady Bug), Distress Inks(Shabby Shutters, Broken China);embellishments: Pie Lane(Glitter balls, Self Adhesive crystals)
The outer fame is a negative from THIS card set and the circle was a scrap from THIS one. The butterfly is clear embossed and colored with distress inks. Did you notice the dimension on my pretty butterfly? Its ready to take flight :D I started this card to show you the wood grain background technique but then I…

On your Wedding Day + Q&A(Friday Feature)

This post was supposed to go up yesterday with the Friday Q&A Feature, blame it on the rains and cloudy weather(all cloudy and rainy), I wasn't able to take a good picture of this card that I wanted to share.

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; pattern paper: Echo Park (Victoria Garden); embellishment: Hobby Ideas(Wedding Day Rub-on), Jenni Bowlin(button)
So, I finally decided to give my stamps some rest. They were over worked and tired..LOL. I pulled out some of my favorite papers from the very beautiful Echo Park Victoria Garden Collection (and had a heart break putting scissors through them :( ). The inspiration for this card comes from the Square Sketch Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. I loved the sketch and wanted to play along. Another challenge on my mind was the ICR#9 - celebration + no stamping. I always struggle with these challenges and these days I am all set to conquering my fears :D
All the leaves are hand cut and hand stitched (it took me eons to c…

Today's card is simple and is entirely and outcome for my love of sketches. When I saw Teri's sketch at Skipping Stones Designs challenge#90, I knew I am gonna whip up a card for it for sure(but of course I tweaked it a bit:) ).

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Skipping Stones(Grunge);ink: Jenni Bowlin(Brown Sugar), Unity Stamp Co.(Raw Sienna); Embellishments: Butterfly rub-on(Studio Calico), SRM Sticker Can you tell that the beautiful wood grain background on this card started as a white card stock sheet? I love myself more when I do things like that..hehehe. The butterflies are rub-ons from Studio calico (available for purchase with me...just saying :) ) and the sentiment is an SRM sticker.
Hope you like it! Thanks for visiting!

I promise...

...this is the last time I will use that flower at least for the this month :D

So, I told you in my last post that I wanted to play along LilyPad Cards Sketch Challenge and when I saw the Make It Monday#29-Free Style Copic coloring video, I immediately knew I wanted to give that coloring technique a try. This is also my second entry for Mel's Layering Challenge at Yvonne's Blog. Oh and, Did you see Lucy's Rainbow Challenge? I am all in for it :D

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: PTI(Friends 'till the end);ink: Momento(Tuxedo Black); Coloring Medium: Faber Castell Markers
So I was in a up-cycling mood and found this sheet of corrugated cardboard from some packaging. I think it adds so much texture while layered on this card.  I also tried curving my sentiment for the first time and love how it looks. Here's how I interpreted the sketch: flower represents the oval and the leaves represent the small circles around and for the corners, I rolle…

Missing you!

Hope you had a great start to this week! I am just popping in to show you a card with my all time favorite technique-heat embossing which is also the challenge at CAS-ual Fridays#16 and Mark's Finest Papers#69
Did you see the new challenge is up at Young Crafters Unite which is all about coloring the stamped images and I think this card is a perfect entry :)

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: PTI(Friends 'till the end), Ippity(Bit of Burlap, Regal Greetings); ink: Jenni Bowlin(Chewing gum, Cough Syrup, Brown Sugar), Rangers Distress Inks(Barn Door, Shabby Shutters);embossing:Versamark Embossing inkpad, Rangers Super fine detail embossing powder(clear); embellishment: Pie Lane(Rainbow faceted crystals, self adhesive leaf)
Well, I started out with the LilyPad Cards Sketch but then while making the card I just went in an altogether different direction (a girl needs to let go sometimes..ha!) but I was playing with my favorite technique- Heat Embossing and …

Happy Birthday + Tips on stamping

Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments the last few posts! I am glad  that you are enjoying the Q&A section and finding it helpful! Keep the questions coming, I love answering them :D

So, after my last two successful adventures with pattern paper, I am back today with my first love - one layer card which is also the challenge at Lawnscaping Challenge#16 . Its a simple one with lot of stamping and masking and also a feeble attempt at masculine cards(I am no good with cards for men :) ) because I wanted to play along the Wee Memories Challenge#64 - Masculine.

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps:Lawn Fawn (Sew Lovely), Skipping Stones(Grunge); ink: Jenni Bowlin(Brown sugar,Cough Syrup), Unity Stamp Co. (french Lilac, raw sienna), Momento(Lady Bug),Distress Ink(Shabby Shutters);embellishment: Brads(Basic Grey),Twine
While making this card, I realized I was out of green ink and so the green ink on this card is a little worn out but it adds to the grunge m…

Life is a beautiful thing + Q&A

So Its my favorite day of the week today and I am in good mood :) I made something which is so not my style and yet I like it *grin*  I kept my promise from the last post to show more love to those pretty papers sitting idle and Oh yes, my obsession with the PTI "Friends till the end" set continues  :)

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: PTI(Friends 'till the end), WPlus9(Magical Moments); ink: Unity Stamp Co.(French lilac, Raw Sienna);embossing: Versamark Embossing inkpad, Rangers Super fine detail embossing powder(clear); embellishment: wooden button, twine
I am not sure if I have told you this before but lilac is one of my favorite colors. There's something about it that draws me to it and yes if you check my wardrobe you will find lots of lilac color dresses there :) So when I saw the Jay Gee's Nook Challenge#10, I was inspired. I had my mind filled with so many ideas(just a hint, there are more cards coming inspired by this challenge pictur…

Celebrate LIFE!

To tell you all the truth, I am going through a really weird phase these days in terms of crafting. I have loads and loads of idea going around in my mind whole day long but when I actually try to work on them, I feel fact very lazy :) and so those ideas stay in my mind and then the next day I keep reminding myself so that I don't loose those ideas (yeah, I am lazy even to jot those ideas down :) ) Does that happen with any of you too? Any ideas for getting rid of this crafting laziness ??? :D

Today's card is one of those cards that has been doing rounds in my mind for a long time and then I saw a few challenges that finally made me make the card :D.
The first one is ICR Challenge#9 - Celebration + No Stamping. Then the Lily Pad Cards fabric/ felt Challenge and then Fabulous Felt Challenge at Moxie Fab World and finally the Sketch at Card Patterns Sketch#128

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; Embellishment: Pie Lane - Glitter Strip(red), glitter balls; SRM s…

Friendship Day Secret Buddy Swap !

There was a fun swap organized at Indian Craft Room for the friendship day and it was such a fun thing to put together. I had so much fun making those mini 3X3 cards and tags. I hope my secret swap buddies liked it :)

I am sharing all the yummy-ness I received via this swap today :D

This pretty set was sent by Indira. I loved the way she used her pattern papers and the white and lavender combo is one of my favorites :)

This one is from super sweet Shalini. I love all the textures she has added with embossing and look at that darling cute :)
And this final one is from Shobana. I love all the neat stamping and distressing. They are so pretty to look at :) And that tag is such a darling. I love it!
And here is the pic of candy I received from Anita (I won her blog anniversary celebration candy) She has sent me lots and lots of die-cuts, fabric motifs, bling, handmade cards, tags, ribbons and that super awesome photo frame :) Thank you so much Anita! Thank you everyone for sending suc…

You're a true FRiEnD + Q & A!

Hey its Friday, my favorite day of the week and I have decided I will do the Q&A section every Friday because thats the day I am happy and relaxed and at ease and answering questions is easy..LOL

Today's card is one of those it-didn't-turn-out-the-way-I-had-planned cards. I am sure, once in a while we all make such cards :)
I am playing along the Skipping Stone Sketch Challenge#88 (It's Teri Anderson's sketch and I love her style :)) and wanted to combine it with PTI Make it Monday technique - custon copic stip ribbon.

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: PTI(Friends 'till the end); ink: Momento(Tuxedo Black), Jenni Bowlin(Cough Syrup);embellishment: American Crafts(ribbon)
Clearly, pink is not my color :) Because I really struggled with this card. I thought the pink was too bright and wanted to balance it with something neutral. But I love the stitching and the ribbon treatment on this card (at least there's something to be proud of here :…

hello FRiEnD!

Hi, I am back again with another card today but before I show you that I just want to thank you for your wonderful response on my previous 2 posts. Its so overwhelming to know that I am appreciated and supported by so many of you out there. And yeah, today I noticed that I crossed 200 posts..WOW...I never thought I'd go that far. Thank you so much!!
Since I got a very positive response on Q&A section, I have decided to continue with it and make it a weekly feature :) So feel free to leave any question(or suggestions or tutorial requests) that you might have about my projects and I will surely come back and answer that.
Alright then, lets get started with the today's card. Its a delightful one :D
Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Maya Road(Geometric Patterns), PTI(Friends 'till the end); ink: Momento(Tuxedo Black, Dandellion) , Ranger's Distress ink(Shabby Shutters), Unity Stamp Co. (french Lilac), Colorbox Pigment Ink(blue, white);embellishment: Wo…

You're sew lovely!

Today's card is for all my lovely blog friends, followers and readers (aka lurkers :D)! Thank you so much for all the fabulous wishes yesterday on Friendship Day. My phone has been a real spoil sport and I wasn't able to reply to any of your messages. It kept showing some network connection error(hate it when that happens!).
But I hope you all had a great day and to compensate for not wishing you in time, I made a card just for you :D

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps:Lawn Fawn (Sew Lovely); ink: Jenni Bowlin(Cough Syrup,Chewing Gum), Unity Stamp Co. (french Lilac),Faber Castell (black dye ink) ;embellishment: Pie Lane(Self-adhesive flower, Glitter Balls),
You might remember the dry brush technique I used on THIS card sometime back. I used the same technique to create the distressed look in today's card but instead of acrylics, I used the inexpensive Faber Castell dye ink. It leaves such a lovely effect. The swirls are hand-drawn and created using silv…

Friends + Q&A

Another friendship card to show you today for a very dear friend from college times. You might know her because I talk about her often and have also shared a few scrapbook pages with our pictures together :) This is my second entry for CraftyJC Challenge# - Friends are Forever. The challenge requires us to send the card in the mail and this one is surely going to my sweetest friend :)

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: Hero Arts (Speckled Ornaments), Kaisercrafts(Friendship Sentiments), Little Yellow Bicycle(Girl); ink: Jenni Bowlin(Brown Sugar), Ranger's Distress ink(Shabby Shutters, Barn door, Spice Marmalade), Unity Stamp Co. (Raw Sienna, french Lilac), Pigment Ink(blue, green);embellishment: Rainbow lustre Rhinestones(Pie Lane), Ranger's clear embossing powder
I know it is no secret that I am huge fan of Vicky's work and every single card she makes inspires me in some way or the other. This one is inspired by THIS card from her. An excellent way to us…

Rakhi Cards..finally :)

So finally I am getting around posting the Rakhi cards I made for my 2 sweet and caring brothers :D (Don't know where all that love is coming from because we fight most of the time..and that too over nothing :D Maybe I am just getting into the festival feeling..LOL)

So I wanted to add some traditional Indian touch for these cards and decided to pick some bright colors, block prints and rhinestones to start with.

Close up of the coloring details and rhinestones

And here is another one, I just changed the colors and kept the design same.

Supplies: cardstock: Elle Erre Fabriano!; stamps: WPlus9(Magical Moments), Lawn Fawn(Smitty's ABC); ink:Jenni Bowlin(Brown Sugar);  Embellishments: Rhinestones(local)
I picked up the block design from the Magical Moments set by WPlus9 and stamped it 4 times in brown ink to create the focal image. The sentiment has been constructed using Smitty's ABC by Lawn Fawn. I think they turned out pretty, What do you think?
Hope you liked it! Thanks f…

Happy Monday! Wishing you all a great week ahead! I know my blog hasn't been as active as it used to be but that doesn't mean I haven't been crafting. I am busy making a painting right now and also thought I will try submitting for publications this time around...even though I know I have a long way to go :)

*This is a picture heavy post*

Anyways,I just wanted to share an up-cycled project I did a few days ago and never got around posting it. I up-cycled some clothes wrapping card-board and turned them into these super cute notebooks. I love them because:

- they were super quick and fun to make
- they were made using my favorite Echo Park papers
- they are cute, I think super cute :D
- they will come in real handy for people like me, who have a memory of a gold fish and keep forgetting anything and everything
- They can be used as birthday/anniversary reminder book, pocket sketchbook(for us, crafters), grocery list (add a magnet to the back and stick it your refrigerator),…
