Lilac and Aqua (Item Id#1119)

Happy Weekend to you all!!

My love for blue isn't over yet guys and to support my obsession Susie's Sassy Challenge this week is the color combo Aqua and Lilac :)) . Here is my take on it.

I wanted to combine this challenge with another one at All that scraps where the challenge is to use a news paper or book. Well, how in the world could I miss that :) I have been advocating the use of newspaper in my cards right from my first post. I was glad to find a challenge on the same.

The flower has been painted using pearl colors. I am putting up another picture from a different angle for a better view. The pattern on the aqua paper is hand drawn.

Hope you like it!! Thanks for visiting!!

In Love with Blue (Item Id#1108)

Howdy guys !!

I am back with yet another card. And this one is for the La La Land Sketch Challenge LLWWC27. The sketch is fairly simple and that is what is exciting about it. You can play with it as you like :)

This card uses a lot of stitching which is my current love :) , both faux as well as real one.And since Stamp with fun Challenge #47 is stitching, I am putting it up there. I loved the glitter butterfly. I guess I have used glitter on my card after ages. The image is a free digi stamp that I downloaded but owing to my carelessness I have lost the link :)). I colored the stamp with water colors and the sentiment is ofcourse handwritten.

Hope you like it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Updated : The digi stamp is a freebie from Polly Craft

Simple Wishes (Item Id# 1106)

Hope past three days were good for you!!
Well I am really struggling with my workload at office and since it doesnt include crafting, it becomes even more difficult :)
Yesterday I was in a big need for change and what better way to rewind than making a card.
So I cooked this one up last night. It is fairly simply and I liked it keeping sober.

The stitching of two papers is a bit tricky but I liked it so much that I decided to show it off and used the least of embellishments. The cute flowers are ofcourse from Joanne's tutorials on flowers. I am such a huge fan of her paper flowers.
I didn't really make this one keeping any challenges in mind. So lets see if I can fit it into few.

Hope you liked it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Wonderful Day (Item Id# 1105)

Hello All,

Thanks for all your lovely comments and its great to see you following my blog. I am still a novice at card making and it gives me great joy to know that you all like my cards and are looking forward to more of them.

I am just discovering the world of "CHALLENGES" in the blogland and in the process I am sort of getting hooked to it :)
Here is another card which I will combine for a number of challenges. I am so excited to be using a digi stamp on this one. Stamping is usually not my cup of tea or to be honest I am not really good with stamping :) But offlate I have been hearing a lot about digi stamps and wanted to try it. This cute one that I have used is a freebie(I didn't want to invest in it till I become comfortable with it :)) ). But I really enjoyed making this card because I tried a lot of things for the first time - digi stamp, round sentiment, my new set of pearl colors and stitching (Can you imagine I had not done any of these things before ??).

This is going for the following challenges:

Challenge up your life (Sketch, green & yellow, spring)
Stamp Something - A touch of Spring
Sophisticat Challenge - Stitching
My Time To Craft - Green + one
pile it on - flowers
practical scrappers - flowers
Paper cutz - Get well soon
Inky Impressions - Think Spring
A Spoon full of sugar - Spring
Totally Gorjuss - Flower Power

Hope you liked it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Flowery Days Ahead (Item Id#1119)

Wishing you all a great day!!
Since most of the challenge blogs have spring and nature as their next theme, I thought of having something specifically to welcome spring and here it is.

Again I have used news paper to represent the trunk of the tree. I guess I am getting addicted to using newspaper :) but I guess its irresistable. Each time I use it I see so many new possibilities of using it all over again.
I am entering this card for the following challenges
A Spoon full of Sugar #91 Spring is in the air
Cupcake Crafts Keep it simple
Inky Impressions Spring
Crafty Angels Flowers
Totally Gorjuss Flowers
Hope you like it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Lovely Tulips (Item Id# 1104)

Good Morning and hope for a beautiful day ahead !!

Yesterday was a very long and hard day at work for me and I just didn't get time to write another post. But then I was so excited about the fun with shapes and more challenge# 40 that I was awake till 2 a.m. to make this card.

The fun part was that I had never used this colour combo(lilac, green and white) before and I was just curious to see how it would come out. Well, I am pleasantly surprised with the result :))

I would be putting  my sentiment on the lilac paper. I prefer leaving my cards blank so that they can be made to fit in any occasion. :)

Since My Time To Craft Challenge#79 is Green plus, this card fits there. Also, Gingersnap Creations challenge is "3 color you love" and its a bonus to be able to play for another challenge.
There's another challenge on the theme of Spring at A Spoon Full of Sugar and I am sure the tulips and the green go well with the theme :)
I just now found Cupcake Craft Challenge with the theme "keep it simple", and this card certainly looks simple to me :) and also for Inky Impressions challenge. Putting this card up for Crafty Angels challenge and Totally Gorjuss on flowers also.
Hope you like it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Thanking Flowers (Item Id#1114)

Hope you all had a good day!!
I personally don't really like mondays as I have to go to work :)

I am putting up a beautiful hand painted card without any embellies. Its a great way to say heartfelt thanking you to the one who has stood by you always.
And here is how it looks from inside

It has matching red envelope with a flower
And here is a closer

The sentiment is ofcourse handwritten.
Hope you like it!!Thanks for visiting!!

Yellow Sunshine (Item Id #1101)

Good Morning All !!

Hope you all had a beautiful valentine's day!! Although here in pune with had yet another terrorist attack on 13 Feb 2010 and all the festivities were gone. We had our hearts heavy with mourning as the bomb blast killed around 10 people and injured another 30. What a sad valentine eve !!

Since there was nothing else do to on V - day and love theme was still on my mind, I made yet another card. Now this one is in non-traditional colours .

The inspiration behind the use of yellow color is one of my friend who apparently is my first customer as well. He wanted to gift his special friend a card with yellow color as he finds her gorgeous in yellow. What a romantic thought :))
So I set down to make this one just for him and his special friend.

I again used a lot of newspaper, some cork paper, yellow ribbon roses, handprinted patterned paper and my favourite corrogated card embellishment. Here is the final product,

Hope you liked it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Love with Origami

As I have mentioned I am a HUGE Nichole's fan and yesterday when I visited her blog I saw the origami challenge. So I set to enter the challenge and came out with this card. Hope I succeed in impressing Nichole :))
As the Valentine day is approaching, I just can't get this love theme out of mind :)).
And since the challenge is for open for all themes, I just thought I will do it with LOVE.
The right corner has small red origami heart. The big heart is made up of wool (Waste Master !!) and tucked inside the cute origami packet . The scolloped pattern paper is again hand painted. And as always the sentiment is also hand-written.
Hope you liked it!! Thanks for visiting!!

Love is in the air (Item id #1115 )

Hey guys I am back with yet another card for V-day.
This time I wanted to do something different and move on with red and pinks.
And so I came up with this orange V-day card, ideal to express your love for somebody special.
Again there's no punching and stamping on this one as well. The "Thinking of You" background is hand painted and hand written. The eyelids used was the part of Gold and Silver embellishment kit from Creative Impressions Inc.
Here is a closer look at the background.

Its tedious but turned out well at the end. :)
And if its not obvious I have used 3 heart embellishments, 2 eyelids, 1 ribbon :)

Hope you liked it !! Thanks for visiting !!

V - day butterflies (Item id #1117)

Here is another of my V - day Red and Pink series.

I am simply in love with these butterflies. They are so cuteeeeeee :)
The inspiration for this card came from Pine's Thank You card. I love the red nail embellishments which are hand made. The silver square and heart brads are from creative impression inc.
Hope you liked it !! Thanks for visiting !!

Orange hues (Item id #1111)

Here is another card of mine which I made recently. I didnt make it with any particular theme in mind but when I finished making it, it was fitting well into Simon says photo inspiration challenge and so i thought i would enter the challenge.

The bright orange flower is again an inspiration from Joanne. These days I am really trying hard to get better with the paper flowers. They look just amazing !!
The white piece has been left blank to place the sentiment. I normally like to keep my cards blank so that they can be personalized for the occasion.
The patterned paper used is again handmade and this time I used 2 shades of blue, orange, green and skin tint to get the desired effect.
And this is how it looks from the inside. I hand painted this flower using water colors.
Hope you liked it!! Thanks for visiting !!

Money Matters (Item Id# 2000)

Yes, money matters and so does the package !!

These are envelopes ideal for giving monetary gifts to your loved ones. I made them keeping in mind Indian marriages as we here have the tradition of giving monetary gifts to our loved ones on such occassions.
These envelopes are inspired from Nicole Heady tutorial on Bank Book .

Here is a sneak - peak into how to use them:

Thats how the envelop looks at the front. This is one of my personal favorites !!

This is how it looks from inside. Slide your cash notes in the golden string.
And here you are !!
Your gift is ready to be presented in a graceful way.
I created around 40 of these envelops and here are some of my favourites

This has the Indian wedding procession on the cover. And I just love the combination of red and orange !!

This one in olive green is another favourite. I love the design pattern on this one.

Oops !! somehow this pic got rotated..but I hope it is clear enough to make out the gold Ganesha on the cover.

Another one with rotation problem. I love the circular border on this one and the tiny "Om" in the center !!
Hope you liked it !! Thanks for visiting !!
Feburary is not only the month of LOVE but a lot of birthdays as well. I am not sure if that holds true for you but I have a lot of friends whose birthdays fall in feburary. And recently I have been really lazy and haven't sent a single card to any of the birthday people which is actually very bad of me.
The month started with the birthday of my sweetest friend "Poonam" better known as "Punnu" or "Poo" on 5th and I had promised her that I will send a handmade card on her birthday and here is the card which I made for her.

Although, there is a Crazy for Cupcakes set by Stampin' up available but I have hand drawn the cupcakes and then painted them using watercolors(to be more economical !!). The sentiment on the card is also hand written (no stamping for me!!) The patterned paper used is also handmade. I used crimson  red, skin tint, brown acrylic colors and mixed them using my fingers to create pattern. Again, its cost effective and good to look at but beware this technique will leave ur finger nails dirty :)

I haven't dispatched this card yet.
I guess I will need a belated birthday card now ;)

Then came the birthday of one of my oldest buddy from school "Ruchi" on 10th and again no card for her as well.

Then on 11th was my cousin "Ashu Bhaiya's" birthday, and forget the card I didn't even wish him. Now that reflects really really really bad on me.

Coming up on 13th is "Pallavi's" birthday and hopefully I will be able to send a card to her in time. Let's wait and see !!

On 14th, Its "Punnu's" first marriage anniversary and I really want to send her a beautiful card on her special day.

Infact on 14th Feb 2009, lot of people close to me got married. Ofcourse there was Punnu's wedding, one of my cousin Marisha's wedding and another of my very sweet friend Deepika's wedding.
Now let's see how many cards I sent out this month.

Hope you liked the birthday card !! Thanks for visiting !!

Flower in Blue (Item id #1110)

This is the first time I will be entrying in a challenge and what better way to start with Card Patterns weekly card sketch challenge . I prepared this card for Card Pattern sketch 50 but now it fits with PTI Contest #13 as well. Thats a real bonus !!

I hadn't used blue color in my cards for a while and when I saw my supplies I immediately knew that for this sketch I want to use blue.

The paper flower in the middle is inspired by Joanne's paper flowers. I know my flower is not even close to what she does but never the less I gave it a try :)
And again notice the use of old newspaper to create a background. As I told you before you we will seeing a lot of recycled material put to use in my cards.
The dark blue patterned paper that I used was a bit of gaudy and overpowering .So to balance the colors I made use of light hues of blue. Then glued blue stones to add a tinge of richness to the card.
Hope you liked it !! Thanks for visiting !!

V-day : Red and Pink (Item id #1116)

Since Valentine's day is around the corner and there are lot of contests on and not to mention lot of prizes to be won, I thought I will dedicate my first post to this romantic season :)

So here is the card made in red, pink and white with lots of hearts !!

I forgot to tell you that I am a bit of a waste master and like to use every bit of paper or recycled paper. Here I have used old newspaper as a patterned paper. Its cost effective and looks great !!

I bought the cute hearts mounted on the piece of corrugated card while visiting a stationary shop in Pune. Also the small heart stickers attached on the corner are from the same shop.
Then to add the final touch I added a small piece of dotted brown ribbon along with a brad. The brad is from the Gold and Silver Embellishment kit from Creative Impressions Inc. And thats it, My card is now ready to participate in the contests :)
This is going for Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge ; Creative Card Crew Challenge #44 ; Penny's Valentine Challenge ; There She Goes Color Challenge 41; lili of the valley; Sew many card Challenges; Gingersnap Creations; Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog
